Pollo Loco opens Louisiana’s second restaurant in Baton Rouge Food / Restaurants

The Crazy Chicken, Inc. has opened its second Louisiana restaurant in Baton Rouge at 10335 Airline Highway.

The Southern California-based chain has partnered with Canal Street Partners to bring the concept of grilled chicken to the capital. The franchise group, which has more than 15 years of experience in the fast service segment of the restaurant industry, also owns and operates El Pollo Loco in Lafayette and plans to open additional locations in Baton Rouge and in the vicinity.

“We are thrilled to continue to develop El Pollo Loco’s presence in Louisiana and bring the brand’s distinctive chicken, handmade Mexican dishes and an assortment of healthy offerings to Baton Rouge,” said Jason Trotter, president of Canal Street Partners. “The future expansion and growth of the units is sure to attract the growing number of consumers looking for healthier options and the demand for bolder, spicier flavors.”

The new 2,660-square-foot restaurant, which will ultimately employ up to 35 people full-time and part-time, has a capacity for about 60 people and features a single drive-thru as well as parking spaces at the edge of the sidewalk.

In addition, the restaurant includes an enhanced digitized experience, which includes “Pollo To Go” for mobile delivery and delivery orders, digital menu boards and on-edge pickup with GPS, all integrated with the dynamic and versatile mobile app the company.

As for the menu, El Pollo Loco chicken is always fresh, never frozen, marinated in its own recipe for citrus, garlic and spices, grilled and hand-cut to order.

The freshly grilled chicken serves as the basis for an authentic selection of dishes, such as family chicken meals, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, bowls and salads. The Chicken Fit section of the menu also offers low-calorie, vegan and even keto-certified options for keto diet followers.

“Whether you want to enjoy a comforting Mexican-style meal or you want to try one of the low-calorie menu options that meets your diet, we have a menu that has something for everyone,” he said. Trotter.

“Baton Rouge is a great marketplace for our continued growth and a good fit for the brand,” added Brian Carmichall, development director at El Pollo Loco. “Canal Street Partners’ experience in the marketplace, understanding customer satisfaction and commitment to Premium quality in all aspects of the business is a winning combination.”

Local expansion comes at a time when El Pollo Loco is aggressively seeking to expand its national footprint. Over the next few years, the plan is to remodel more than 300 of the brand’s 478 existing restaurants with new prototype designs and develop 140 new restaurants in select DMAs across the country.

Today, El Pollo Loco has 478 restaurants in six states, with 282 of them owned and operated by franchisees.
