The current range consists of flours, courgettes, desserts and cookies with low carbohydrate and ketone content.
According to the founder, Sudarshan Gangrade, the goal was to develop low-carb alternatives to the high-carb Indian diet.
Everything! Foods provide less than 5 g of carbohydrates per serving, about 60% less than similar products on the markets.
For example, the typical Murukku contains between 9 and 11 g of carbohydrates per serving, while Lo! ‘S has 2.9 g.
Through these products, the firm hopes to reduce the carbohydrate content in a typical Indian food from 75-85% to less than 50%.
“We hope to reduce the incidence of obesity, diabetes, and heart risk by limiting carbohydrates and offering health benefits, especially weight loss and lowering blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and triglycerides.“.
In 2016, about 166 million adults in India are overweight or obese and the number of diabetic adults is estimated to be almost 73 million.
Domestic market(…)
Since its launch two years ago, the company has generated an average of $ 1.5 million in annual sales, with monthly growths amid the pandemic.
In India, Lo! Food products are mainly sold online through e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Bigbasket and their online store.
Its customer base includes health-conscious consumers, as well as those who are actively trying to lose weight through a keto diet or people with diabetes and whose doctors have advised them to eat foods with fewer carbohydrates.
Export markets(…)
Outside India, Lo! Food products are also available in Singapore and the United States as they have started exporting this year.
Working with a distributor in Singapore, the full range of products including flours, namkeens, desserts and cookies is available on e-commerce platforms such as Lazada and Shopee.
In the United States, it currently lists one product, a flour for all uses, directly on Amazon. “We are also launching a mix of brownies, coated peanuts, panellets and wafer cookies ”.Said Gangrade.
For its European exports, the company will present its coated peanuts, nachos, chips and will develop a new range of products that include mixes of brownie, pancakes and waffles.
“These products are attractive to the global public, so not only do we focus on Indians and expats, but our products will be available to everyone.“.
“We have finished the distributors in the United Kingdom and France, and we hope to launch it in July ”. Similar to their domestic and other export markets, the products will be sold online.
According to a Grandview research report, the global ketogenic diet market is expected to reach US $ 14.7 billion in 2027, with a CAGR of 5.5% from 2020 to 2027.
R&D (…)
Wow! The food spent more than six months in R&D, offering an extensive line of snacks and commodities from India.
To ensure the lowest carbohydrate content, the company uses seed or walnut flour, instead of traditional grains and millet.
Gangrade said his biggest challenge was to create the desired texture and shelf life.
“The snack is not only flavor, but also texture. Taste can always be managed through flavors and spices.(…)
“Besides, the flours of seeds and other ingredients usually have a shorter useful life, so that we had to calculate our situation of container and proportion of ingredients.“.
“In the end, we deliver a functional food, so we need to make sure that each portion of ours provides exactly the same amount of carbohydrates we promise.“.
Last year it raised $ 500,000 from angel investors and this January, in January, it raised $ 1 million in a pre-Series A round.
