Cheshire woman’s incredible five stone weight loss after years of yo yo diets

A woman from Warrington has lost more than five stone in an amazing transformation.

Angela Meade, from Fearnhead, had tried weight loss plans in the past, but after stopping them, she found that the weight ‘came back on again’.

In 2019, Angela started Slimming World’s Food Optimising Plan, which aims to re-educate people on getting the balance right on the types of food they eat.

Around 15 months later, she’d lost an incredible five stone and two pounds, with the 54-year-old now ready to launch her own Slimming World group.

Speaking with CheshireLive, Angela said that previous diet plans had failed in the long-run, which is when she turned to Slimming World in a bid to shed the pounds.

She said: “I tried this with diet plans and things in the past, and I had lost weight, but then you stop it and it all comes back on again, so I needed something different.

“That’s why I went to Slimming World, and I’d been recommended by friends who had been successful. I decided that I was going to try it for myself in 2019.”

Angela said that her career, which before the Covid pandemic involved lots of international travel, left her without any ‘structure’.

She said: “The trigger behind it is that I do a lot of travel with my job, so I was on and off planes all the time, eating plane food, in and out of different times zones, eating out, not really having any structure, so it also gave me that structure and taught me to rethink how I go about eating.”

By December 2020, around 15 months after starting her weight loss journey, Angela had lost five stone and two pounds.

She said: “It was about a 15-month window. So I did it nice and steady. I didn’t want a fad diet, I wanted something I could continue with and stay slim for life.”

She said during this time period it was “quite a challenge, because we went to virtual group for quite a long time.” Angela said she was “thriving on sociability and face-to-face, but they put on Zoom groups” and she kept going and also exercising.

“When Boris said that we could have an hour, I started walking, and that was the start of my exercise,” she added. “Then I was running. At one point, I was running about 55km a week.”

Angela now wants to help others on their journey, with the 54-year-old launching her own Slimming World group, and the first session is set to take place on Wednesday, January 5.

The group will meet at St Bridget’s Church in Fearnhead, Warrington with sessions at 5.30pm and 7pm.
